My new FlexRadio 6300 Signature

Before I talk about my new radio I just want to say what a fantastic radio the Icom IC7600 has been. Excellent receive, superb audio, very easy to use, and of course the scope is really useful too. I bagged nearly 240 DXCC in 12 months with this radio just running 100w into my Hexbeam.  It

MX0LDG Lundy activation

I was invited to join the MX0LDG DX group for an IOTA activation of Lundy from October 6th -13th, 2015. The team consisted of John M5JON, Ant MW0JZE, Pete M0ILT and me G3JKL. We stayed in Stoneycroft cottage next to the lighthouse, about 400ft ASL. We took along 2x MW0JZE lightweight Hexbeams, Pete’s SteppIR vertical (40m)

Goodbye M0, hello G3!

No updates since June, very remiss of me. So what’s new… well the biggest (profound even) change is I’m no longer M0JKL, I’m now G3JKL. M0JKL has been relinquished, it is no longer linked to me, so I’ve been busy updating all the associated online connections, and there are surprisingly many. RSGB, HRD, eQSL, HRD

Tuesday was okay but last night was quite stressful knowing there

WAB Olympic marathon….

DX has taken a back seat these last couple months in favour of the Worked All Britain Follow the Torch event/award. Simple idea, as the Olympic torch relay travels around the country it activates the WAB square it passes through, and a single station activates it. Here is the info from the WAB site: The

6 meters of fun….

Not a lot of activity on the radio this month, I seem to be busy or the bands aren’t that exciting. New countries since my last blog entry are Sudan, Ceuta & Melilla and Chile. Other countries worked were previously worked under my old calls of either M6VAT or 2E0JKL, 151 DXCC in total, 141

Pileups and punchups

Where does a month go?  The bands have been a bit hit and miss lately. I’ve been looking out for the DXpedition to Spratly Island in the South China Sea. I heard him as loud as 5/9 but the pileups have been bad enough without the deliberate blocking by station or stations unknown in the
